Spam can be defined as unsolicited email.  It is a problem that is affecting business as well as individuals all over the world.  I read that an estimated 90 billion unsolicited emails (spam mail) PER DAY were sent in 2007.  That is 5 billion spam emails more per day than 2006.  That number sounds huge.  Another fact is that the cost of fighting spam in 2007 in the United States alone was over 13 billion dollars.  That included equipment, software and manpower used to fight spam.

Last year I decided to offer our customers spam filtering service.  Today more than 48 domains are subscribed to our Spam Filtering Service.  How does it work?  Last month in February over 57,340 emails were received.  Out of this number only 3771 emails were good.  That means that over 53,569 emails were spam!  Over 1700 emails contained viruses. All of these were stopped by our Spam Filtering Servers.  We route all email to a server that it’s only job is to clean emails.  This server utilizes the latest in spam fighting technology with black listing, Bayesian filtering, reverse block listing, hash signatures and checksums to catch 99% of spam with near zero false positives. We clean your email, check attachments for viruses, worms, Trojan horses and all the stuff that you don’t want in your email.

Another advantage is since this is a separate server just for that, if your email system was to go down then our servers will continue to accept emails and once your system is up again you will receive all of the email.  Is like having a backup email server.  Now this service is completely free to all our customers.  If you are hosting with us and you would like to take advantage of this feature open a support ticket asking us to add this service to your account.  Once again this is free to our hosting customers.  But if you are not hosting with us but would like to take advantage of this service the cost is as low as 5.99 per month for 25 email addresses.  We will continue looking for ways to improve our line of services.  We are getting ready to roll out a new web mail system that will include collaboration.  But that would be another blog.  Until then…
